The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
("NHTSA") in cooperation with Peg Perego, will announce a
voluntarily recall of Peg Perego Primo Viaggio infant car seats due
to the occumence of a noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Standard
No. 213. Some of these seats may have been assembled incorreclty. Such
that the front latching mechanism on the left side (from the baby's
perspective) may not fully engage the latching rod in the vehicle. We
calculate that about 60-65 of these seats may be affected.
The repair service can be performed by anyone in a couple of minutes.
Peg Perego and NHTSA have recieved no
reports of injuries from consumers.
These infant seats were sold as: Primo
Viaggio infant seat, and included with Pliko travel System and Primo
Viaggio Travel System and Primo Viaggio Travel System. They were produced
between Feb. 1st and June 10th, 2001
