In September of this 1998, Playtex began
shipping the Spill proof Soft Spout Trainer Cup with the new Sip Ease
One Piece Valve. this was a replacement for their original two handled
trainer cup without a soft spout sold under the Playtex name UPC #05425.
This new product also marketed under the Playtex name bears the UPC
code #01018.
Playtex has recently recieved a few reports that children using the
spout as a teether. They were able to gnaw at the soft spout and damage
it. There have been no reports of injury and Playtex is confident that
this product meets the necessary safety requirements. In fact, Playtex
tested this product extensively and it surpassed not only all Consumer
Product Safety Commission standards, but also Playtex more stringent
standards.
Therefore, Playtex is implementing a voluntary withdrawal of this
product from the market and proceeding to modify the spout by incorporating
a firmer material . Consumers who already own these cups should call
