On July 31, 2001, Fisher-Price and U.S. Consumer Product
Safety Commission (CPSC) will announce the voluntary consumer
recall of a portable bassinet infant product (model numbers
79334, 79336, 79338, manufactured before April 200.
The recalled portable bassinet converts to an infant
seat, with a vibrating unit for calming infants. The portable
bassinet was sold under the names Sit & Soothe
Portable Bassinet, Soothing Sounds Bassinet and
Soothing Sounds Portable Bassinet beginning in
November of 1997. Children and adults can be injured when
their fingers are pinched or cut between parts of the
folding mechanism of the bassinet's frame.
Consumers who own the Fisher-Price portable bassinet
are being asked to call toll-free at 1-800-285-0324 to
determine if their product is recalled and/or order a
free repair kit. Consumers who own a recalled Portable
Bassinet are being asked to discontinue use of the product
until they recieve a free repair kit and complete the
repairs.
