On April 10, 2002, Fisher-Price and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will
announce a recall to instruct consumers to check the assembly of the Smart Response Swing
(model number 79644, 79645 and 79647). This recall affects 42,000 consumers who purchased
the swing beginning in December 2001 through March 15, 2002.
The Smart Response Swing is an indoor infant swing that operates via a sound sensor and plays
music. It is possible for the consumer to mis-assemble the seat of the swing so that it appears
secure, but is not. If the seat of the swing is not properly attached, the seat and baby can flip
forward.
Consumers who purchased the Smart Response Swing before March 15, 2002 are being asked to call Fisher-Price
toll-free at 1-800-942-5912 for assistance in inspecting their seat. Consumers who have mis-assembled swings
will be provided with a new seat, seat wire positioner and seat wire caps, with a set of instructions for
properly attaching the seat to the swing. Consumers who have an affected product should not use their swing
until the replacement seat has been correctly installed. www.fisher-price.com
