Burlington, NJ - Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation executives and local officials will break ground for a new distribution center at 11:00AM, Thursday, September 6, at the Metro Market on Route 130, Edgewater Park. The existing structure will be demolished to make way for Burlington Coat Factory's new 648,000 square foot warehouse space, slated to open spring 2002. The distribution center will employ up to 600 area residents, both full and part time. Burlington Coat Factory has been planning this construction project since March 2000. The Edgewater Park Township Committee approved the deal in mid-August 2001. Burlington Coat Factory is enthusiastic about this project and is proud to be a part of the Route 130 Corridor Revitalization Program, to benefit the local economy and boost area employment. Burlington Coat Factory has grown since its founding in 1972 from a single store to a national retailer with nearly 300 stores in 42 states. Over 25 new Burlington Coat Factory stores opened in calendar year 2001 alone. The company's offerings have also expanded. Once known as the expert on outerwear, Burlington Coat Factory has evolved into a one-stop shopping experience adding apparel, accessories, and shoes for the entire family as well as baby and linens departments. The new distribution center is an integral part of Burlington Coat Factory's expansion plans, allowing the company to better serve its growing number of stores. |
