BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY
STORES RAISE $456,235 FOR
THE LEUKEMIA & LYMPHOMA SOCIETY®

Burlington, NJ – Burlington Coat Factory has helped to raise $456,235 in its third year as a National Retail Partner to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk®. As a National Retail Partner, Burlington Coat Factory offers consumers the opportunity to donate $1 or more to purchase balloon icons at participating stores. The balloons symbolize public support for the Society’s fight against blood cancers.

Burlington Coat Factory employees also form Light The Night Walk teams across the country. Light The Night Walk attendees solicit sponsorships from family and friends for their participation in community walk events held nationwide. Walkers carry colored balloons to commemorate loved ones who have battled cancer. The walks serve as an inspiration to anyone affected by the disease and feature food, music, and activities for the entire family.

Burlington Coat Factory first joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a National Retail Partner in 2002, and has raised $921,000 since the partnership began. “Our employees embrace this cause and show incredible enthusiasm in building store teams,” notes Shannon Cavanaugh, Community Relations Coordinator at Burlington Coat Factory. “We are also extremely grateful to the public, who visit our stores and support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s efforts with the purchase of paper balloons. It is a joint effort which translates into a wonderful result.”
