| OPERATION CARSEAT™ CONCLUDES ITS FIRST YEAR |
|

Burlington, NJ –Operation Carseat™, Burlington Coat Factory’s child safety initiative designed to provide high-quality, regulation car seats to non-profit agencies at significantly reduced prices, concludes a successful first year. In its first year, Operation Carseat™ sold over 1800 car seats to organization across the country including the State of New Jersey and the Alliance for Community Traffic Safety (ACTS) of Oregon. The organizations, in turn, donate the seats to low-income families. The seats are all new, unused, and guaranteed to meet state and federal safety laws. The idea for Operation Carseat™ developed from Project Checkpoint™ another safety program hosted by Baby Depot and Burlington Coat Factory. At Project Checkpoint™ events, certified technicians inspect car seats within vehicles for proper installation and operation. “As we conducted the inspections, we saw that families were using outdated or unsafe car seats simply because they could not afford updated models,” says Ric Bramble, Community Development Specialist. “That’s when we knew we had to do something to make seats more accessible to these families. We contacted the community organizations who could best identify those in need and went from there. It’s extremely rewarding to know that Baby Depot is helping to keep children safe in vehicles,” adds Bramble. Infant, convertible, booster, and high back booster seats which accommodate different age and weight guidelines, are available through the program.
