| BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY CUSTOMERS RAISE $100,000 FOR THE USO | |
|
Burlington Coat Factory recently presented the United Service Organizations (USO) with a $100,000 donation, the result of the company's recent Military Family Support Campaign. Burlington Coat Factory customers who donated $1.00 or more to the USO throughout the campaign hung yellow ribbons in the store to symbolize their support for service men and women at home and abroad. All proceeds from the campaign directly support the USO and its numerous programs established to benefit members of the military and their families. "The employees and customers of Burlington Coat Factory showed great compassion and patriotism by their participation in this year's fundraising effort," said Edward Powell, president of the USO World Headquarters. "This donation greatly expands the USO's reach to service members around the world, and reminds them that America cares." Since 1941, the USO has offered uniformed military personnel and their families morale lifting programs and services at home and abroad. The USO operates 121 centers around the world, serving over 5,000,000 patrons annually. The organization depends primarily on volunteer support and solely on charitable donations. Burlington Coat Factory is a national retailer offering clothing, footwear, and accessories for the entire family, a specialty baby product department, Baby Depot, and Luxury Linens, a home décor department. The company, founded and incorporated in 1972, owns and operates over 330 stores, including subsidiaries, nationwide. The company has been publicly traded since 1983, and is presently traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "BCF." Burlington Coat Factory can be found online at www.coat.com. |
