POSITION:Mid Level Computer Technician, 2nd Shift Position
DESCRIPTION: The candidate will participate in tasks associated with the maintenance and installation of computing hardware and
software. These resources provide to all of the Distribution Centers and Corporate Offices of Burlington Coat Factory.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary job areas will depend on the candidate's experience, education, training, and aptitudes. As the incumbent
is a Mid-Level Computer Technician, all of these tasks can be assumed with minimal but specific training or familiarization.
The candidate will be involved with all of the following:
- Install, de-install, update and maintain computer related hardware and software
- Provide end-user with phone, on-site and off-site hardware/software assistance
- Perform preventative maintenance on computer related equipment
- Update problem management database with problem status and action taken
- Evening/weekend coverage as assigned
- Staff help desk when required
- Limit end-user training
- Ensure that problems and requests are resolved to end-users' satisfaction
- Responsible for all aspects of hardware installation of end-users systems, which include, but are not limited to, running of cable, connectivity of hardware to MIS
systems, proper installation of hardware and compatibility of software with utilized hardware
- Training of end-users and help desk representatives as required
- Provide executives with on-site and off-site hardware/software assistance. This may require home visits to certain executives
- Abide by all corporate policies and regulations
- Any other job related duties as required
- Keen interest in the technical aspects of computing hardware and software
Ability to work independently with minimal technical direction
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate with varying audiences that includes non-technical members of staff and management
- Desire and ability to increase knowledge and technical expertise through directed and self-guided study as well as structured classes
- Demonstrated desire to successfully achieve any/all tasks or goals with which they're challenged
- Personal qualities that enable the incumbent to successfully perform in a technical and situational leadership role
- Excellent customer service skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 year plus experience in IT support role
- Experience and knowledge of the following OS systems:
- Windows (98,2000,XP)
- Unix
- Linux (a plus)
- Experience and knowledge of the following software:
- Microsoft Office
- Lotus
- Netscape, MSIE
- Oracle
- Knowledge of the following DC equipment (a plus):
- Flat sorter (Crisplant)
- Hang sorter (GSC)
- Unit sorter (AL Systems)
- Experience and knowledge of new and old computer related hardware
- Experience of Key Office and Distribution personnel and departments
