POSITION: Buyers Clerk - Burlington, NJ
DESCRIPTION : Working in the Ladies Accessories Department. Handling many clerical skills, including but not limited to: computer entry, organizing, vendor relations and store support.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant should be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to work well with others, have strong communications skills, computer literate, and able to handle multiple tasks.

POSITION: Assistant Buyer Trainee - Baby Depot Division - Burlington, NJ
DESCRIPTION : As an Assistant Buyer Trainee for our Baby Depot Division, you will learn about open to buy plans, store assortment plans, merchandising strategies, order entry and negotiations. An important part of the job is communicating with vendors and with all of the company's stores. You will also be exposed to other aspects of the retail industry such as advertising and merchandising in the stores. There will also be opportunity to go out into the market with the buying staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: A candidate for this position will have retail experience. Applicants should possess good organizational and verbal communication skills. Computer knowledge is necessary. A 4-year degree is required, preferably in one of the following areas:

  • Business Administration
  • Marketing
  • Merchandising
  • Management

POSITION: Assistant Buyer Trainee - Burlington, NJ & Manhattan New York
DESCRIPTION: As a trainee you will learn about open to buy plans, store assortment plans, order entry and negotiations. An important part of the job is communicating with vendors and with all of the company's stores. You will also be exposed to other aspects of the retail industry such as advertising and merchandising in the stores. There will also be opportunity to go out into the market with the buying staff. You will also enjoy the excitement of working in both our Burlington, NJ headquarters and the Manhattan, NY buying offices.

QUALIFICATIONS: A candidate for this position will have retail experience preferably in soft lines, such as, a small clothing or off-pricing store. Applicants should possess good organizational and verbal communication skills. Computer knowledge is necessary. A 4-year degree is required, preferably in one of the following areas: Business Administration , Marketing , Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising , Fashion Apparel Management . Must have excellent interpersonal skills. We are looking for individuals that are outgoing, with a high level of energy.

POSITION: Buyer – Accessories Division
DESCRIPTION : Burlington Coat Factory is seeking a buyer to provide operational support and assist in the selection and procurement of merchandise to support the overall company sales, volume, gross margin, and turnover objectives for our Accessories Division. This position will have responsibility for setting up vendor and market appointments, ongoing communication with vendors, and market trips. The position will have responsibility for managing samples, obtaining buyer approvals, preparing for turn-in meetings, and general administrative support of the buying team. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills as well as strong leadership and managerial skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Buyer with developing the seasonal assortment plans.
  • Assist buyer in generating accurate purchase orders.
  • Work with Planning and Replenishment to maximize sales and inventory turns
  • Ensure appropriate ship windows are set and adhered to.
  • Communicate with DC to ensure timely DC processing of receipts and RTVs.
  • Analyze and monitor the business and react to maximize business trends.
  • Work with buyer to develop skill level and knowledge in buying practices, vendor relations/negotiations, marketing practices and merchandise presentation.
  • Maintain knowledge of product and industry trends through market trips, online services, industry journals and fashion magazines.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance / Economics, Marketing, Merchandising, or related business degree.
  • 3 – 5 years experience in accessory product buying.
  • Proficiency in Spreadsheet applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Assertive self-starter.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-changing environment
